MAC Kinda Sexy Lipstick

You will know from last week's post that I had a little MAC haul last Sunday. I managed to get my hands on the beautiful new Warm Neutral Eyeshadow Palette (see my post HERE) which I absolutely love. I also picked up a beautiful new lipstick whilst caught up in the shopping frenzy of it all. I am so glad I did because MAC's Kinda Sexy is already my new favourite!

MAC's Kinda Sexy is a matte formula lipstick. Usually I favour a glossy neutral lip and a matte bold or bright colour. So - I guess I broke all my normal rules on this one, but it works! Initially I was trying on peachy neutral shades such as Shanghai Spice and Peach Blossom. I had seen beautiful swatches of them online. But on me they really didn't show up at all. So I reached for Kinda Sexy and instantly loved it.

Kinda Sexy is a warm peachy pink with a slight hint of brown to it. It is an amazing every day colour and I really like the matte formula. I have struggled with matte lipsticks in the past (such as Revlon's Colourburst Matte Balm in Complex - you can read about my struggles with that one HERE). At worst they cling to dry patches or even some of the more forgiving ones tend to settle in creases and look a bit odd. But I am so pleased that Kinda Sexy does none of those things! It is a matte formula in that it has no gloss or shine to it, but it is certainly not drying on the lips. In fact it feels really nice.

What is really incredible is the staying power! Matte formulas do tend to last longer anyway, but this one lasts for hours. In a full day at work of breakfast, coffees and lunch (I do actual work too by the way...) I only had to reapply it once. It feels smooth and moisturising on the lips and I like how I can feel the lipstick still there if I rub my lips together.

Since I bought this lipstick I have worn it every day. Recently I have been tending to wear to gloss balms and stains (such as the L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipsticks which I recently reviewed HERE), but this has made me rediscover my lipstick collection. That can only be a good thing!
