Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara: A review

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara

I first heard about the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara from Estee over at Essie Button. So when a few weeks ago El at The Beauty Isle mentioned that she had just picked it up it aroused my curiosity even more.

Mascara is my favourite make up item, if I could only wear one item of make up then I always choose mascara. I feel like it opens up my eyes, makes them look bigger and brightens my face. I never, ever skip wearing it. However, I never wear it on my lower lashes. I have tried, but I always felt that it looked 'too much' and of course it usually got messy. If I managed not to accidentally smear it on my skin whilst applying it then it would end up smudging and looking dreadful.

With my past history in lower-lash mascara not being so good, I was intrigued by this product and whether I could make it work for me.

The Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara has tiny wand to help pick up the small lashes. The mascara tube is smaller than a normal mascara and comes in a pretty silver metallic finish. The mascara has a special formula which resists smudging. You also have a choice of two colours - black or black/brown.

I was lucky enough to have accumulated enough Boots Advantage Points to buy this. I figured this was a good way to try something new without feeling that I'd wasted my money if it didn't work for me. I bought it in black as even though I am quite fair I always wear black mascara (although always brown eyeliner oddly...).

I have to say that I am impressed! The little brush makes it much easier to apply than a normal mascara. It also hasn't smudged when I am wearing it. I don't wear it every day as I tend to save it for when I want to make my eyes more of a feature. But it is a welcome addition to my make up stash.

The best way to wear the lower lash mascara is either with a dark smokey eye when you want everything to look more dramatic. Or in contrast - when you want a natural look just using a neutral wash of colour and mascara to emphasise your eyes.

Have you tried the Clinique Bottom Lash Masacara and did you like it?

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara is £12 HERE (and there is currently a Clinique Bonus Time offer on if you hurry!).

  2. Aww, thanks for the shoutout!
I love this mascara too! I'm curious if after it's done if I can save the brush and try to dip it in my normal mascaras and get the same effect. I'm def going to try.

    1. Now there is a good idea! Might work best with a waterproof mascara to make sure it doesn't smudge!
