MAC Monday: MAC Kinda Sexy Lipstick

MAC Kinda Sexy Lipstick
MAC Kinda Sexy Lipstick

You will know from last week's post that I had a little MAC haul last Sunday. I managed to get my hands on the beautiful new Warm Neutral Eyeshadow Palette (see my post HERE) which I absolutely love. I also picked up a beautiful new lipstick whilst caught up in the shopping frenzy of it all. I am so glad I did because MAC's Kinda Sexy is already my new favourite!

MAC's Kinda Sexy is a matte formula lipstick. Usually I favour a glossy neutral lip and a matte bold or bright colour. So - I guess I broke all my normal rules on this one, but it works! Initially I was trying on peachy neutral shades such as Shanghai Spice and Peach Blossom. I had seen beautiful swatches of them online. But on me they really didn't show up at all. So I reached for Kinda Sexy and instantly loved it.

MAC Monday: MAC Warm Neutral Eyeshadow Palette

MAC Warm Neutral Eyeshadow Palette
MAC Warm Neutral Eyeshadow Palette

This is one of my most exciting MAC Monday posts so far. Not least because I hunted high and low for this, but also because I finally got my hands on it this morning, and so this is hot off the press!

I first heard about the MAC Neutral Eyeshadow Palettes back in January. Even though I had just bought my third Urban Decay Naked Palette, I knew I would still have to have this one too. The press release revealed that in March MAC would be releasing two neutral eyeshadow palettes - one warm toned and one cool toned. Each palette has 15 full-sized eyeshadows and is £65.

I admit I drew a sharp breath when I first saw the price, but actually by MAC standards this is great value. If you were going to build your own 15 shadow palette using the pro-palette system it would cost much more. Pro-palette eyeshadows cost £10 each and the palette itself is £14 plus the cost of an insert (£6.50) means that you would spend £170.50 putting something like this together yourself. Assuming that you actually like the colours in these pre-packaged Warm and Cool Neutral Palettes then paying only £65 is actually a great deal!

L'Oreal Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick: A review

L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipsticks
L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipsticks

Oh how I love these! When I first spotted these L'Oreal Extraordinaire by Colour Riche liquid lipsticks a couple of weeks ago, I hadn't heard any hype or seen any reviews. They just called to me and I bought a couple straight away.

I love a natural coloured lipstick and when going for this kind of shade I prefer a moisturising glossy finish. For me, dark or bright colours are best matte and neutral or nude shades are best glossy. The L'Oreal Extraordinaire lip colours come a range of shades which include bright pinks and reds, but what I really like is the range of nude and more natural shades. These are often overlooked in new releases - but not this time!

MAC Monday: Fantasy of Flowers Part 2 - Mineralize Blush in Petal Power

MAC Mineralize Blush In Petal Power
MAC Mineralize Blush In Petal Power

Now for Part 2 of my Fantasy of Flowers reviews!

Staying on the theme of blusher and more specifically the recent Fantasy of Flowers Limited Edition Collection - this week's MAC Monday is dedicated to MAC Petal Power Mineralize Blush.

Last week I reviewed the Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose (HERE) which is also part of the Fantasy of Flowers collection. When I bought this I just couldn't chose between Stereo Rose or Petal Power and in the heat of the moment ended up with both!  So now I have them both I wanted to compare the two!

Nails Inc Gel Effect: Porchester Square

Nails Inc Gel Effect Porchester Square Nail Polish
Nails Inc Gel Effect Porchester Square Nail Polish

I haven't got many Nails Inc nail polishes. They are at the pricier end of the spectrum after all. But I was shopping yesterday and really loved the look of the Nails Inc Gel Effect in the shade Porchester Square.

I had heard of the shade before because Anna from Vivianna Does Make Up often cites it as her all time favourite polish. It is a greyish nude shade, which is the perfect mix of grey, taupe and a hint of lilac. I'm a sucker for this colour - I even chose a similar shade of Farrow and Ball paint to paint my front door!

Last Saturday I had quite a beauty shopping fiesta! I only popped into Boots to pick up a few bits and suddenly I was loitering around the L'Oreal stand looking at some of their newer releases. I must've been living under a rock as I hadn't picked up on any blogger hype about them either! Usually I like to read reviews before I buy new products but I was really intrigued and just wanted to give them a go.

The products in question are the L'Oreal Infallible 24HR Lip Colour and the L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick by Color Riche. I'll save the latter for another post but safe to say I love them both!

MAC Monday: Fantasy of Flowers - Stereo Rose Mineralize Skinfinish

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose

Now despite my by now very well known MAC obsession, I don't mind admitting that I had never ventured into their blushers before. Until today!

The MAC Fantasy of Flowers limited edition collection launched online a couple of weeks ago. As usual by the time I'd become interested in any of the products it had sold out! This week the collection launched in store and as luck would have it Debenhams also had one of their 10% off beauty promotions on (see HERE) woohoo!

This time I had become a little fixated on the idea of choosing a MAC blusher. I don't own many blushers at all, in fact I have only recently started using it on a daily basis. I had seen some reviews online for the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose. It is a re-released item and was getting a lot of love online. Although some reviewers were complaining that this re-released version is more of a peach colour compared to their original more pink toned version. But I wanted a peach colour so this didn't bother me at all!

Stereo Rose has pink, peach, bronze and gold marbling throughout. I have seen other bloggers mention that the different amount on marbling in each pan means that the product can vary in colour from one pan to another. But certainly mine is a beautiful gold peach shimmery colour.

Sephora haul: Eyeshadow palettes and Rouge Infusion Lip Stain

Sephora display in Lyon, now delivers to UK
Sephora Haul from Lyon, now delivers to UK
Sephora haul!

Last weekend I was in France! Aside from a lovely weekend with my husband and our friends in Lyon and the chance to see London Grammar play live... it meant I could go to Sephora!

I often read about Sephora from other bloggers, but we don't have one in the UK (Why not?!). When I returned from France last weekend I discovered that Sephora have actually started delivering to the UK!!! This is fantastic news, postage isn't cheap and there are conflicting reports about import tax/duty being charged. But more importantly it gives us the opportunity to access new brands as well as Sephora own-brand products (which I like!).

When I looked online I immediately gravitated towards the NARS section as they had the elusive Narsissist Palette in stock..... but alas they don't deliver this to the UK. Obviously some things they can't ship such as nail polish due to postal restrictions but the NARS thing I don't understand. Oh well, I can't afford it anyway...

The perfect foundation: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation B20

I can't believe I haven't done a post about this foundation earlier! Last night a friend told me she was looking through My Beautopia for recommendations. Aside from this being a huge compliment, I realised that there were a few of my all time favourite beauty products that I was yet to mention. I think I was 'saving' them... Sorry! So here goes:

I stumbled across Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation about two and a half years ago whilst watching a Fleur de Force video. I needed a new foundation at the time and was keen to try it. I am so glad I did - because it is simply the best foundation I have found so far! I recommend this to all of my friends (if I can entice them into a cosmetics conversation). I always recommend it to other bloggers and I even bought some for my mum.

As the name suggests, Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua is a water based foundation. It has a pleasant rose fragrance and a little goes a long way. The product comes in a black box and the foundation bottle is a rectangular plastic bottle (which is the same nude opaque colour regardless of the actual shade that is inside - so don't let that confuse you!). The trick is to make sure you shake the bottle before you squeeze out any product - as it separates in the bottle and you need to make sure it is properly mixed.

MAC Monday: Cremesheen Glass in Deelight

MAC Cremesheen Glass in Deelight
MAC Cremesheen Glass in Deelight

This week's MAC Monday is a bit of an enigma for me. It is the only MAC Cremesheen Glass that I own! So far at least...

I bought the Cremesheen Glass in Deelight on a whim after hearing Fleur de Force mention it in a video. Fleur had used it for bridesmaid's make up at a family wedding and suggested it as a pretty nude lip gloss. Now as much as love many, many lipsticks, I have just never got hooked on lip glosses.
